Since May 2012, Dr. Nico van Belzen is Director General of the International Dairy Federation, which represents the global dairy sector. From 2003-2012, he was the Executive Director of the European branch of the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI Europe). From 1998-2003, he held R&D management positions at DMV International, B2B division of Campina, where he established a new laboratory to study the efficacy of bioactive ingredients. He was research group leader at the departments of Hematology (1994-1998) and Pathology (1990-1994) at Erasmus University Rotterdam (NL) where he cloned cancer-related genes, e.g. Drg1/NDRG1 that is now used in cancer diagnostics.
